Only kool aid supporters, certain local media, and those with MSU ties thinks it's "good", "fills urgent needs" etc.

P.S. articles by opposing coaches don't count either. They all praise each other anyway.

I am not a recruitnic by any means but, Dantoino has a real sencerity to his pressers and his own assesment of the job he is doing. Out of last years salvaged class he had a couple of players log some real good minutes. He promised a bowl game and delivered. It wasnt the MCB either. We played a quality team and had our chances. If we did play in another bowl we were on level with I think we would have won.

For this years class, I will look at it in the way that the NE Patriots go about player acquisition. They never have come close to having the number one pick of players for many years but do due dilegence in finding quality players that are right for the team. From what I read this class is exactly just that. They are players with skill and Dantonio believes that they are quality, highly coachable kids. The Lions have had plenty of "quality picks" the last 5 years and how many of them are working out?

When Izzo started how many of his 1st and 2nd class were considered the top of the national class? It didnt matter to Izzo, he got the quality guys that he wanted, and from them he built a juggernaught. Next years group of guys will tell us volumes more about the where our program is headed. This year he made sure he got guys that will help fill the holes that held us back (secondary), were weak (linebacker), and graduation (O-line).

That's all well and good, but what are the experts saying? Experts are the ones who know the needs of the team and how to coach them, right? Why the hell are we paying these coaches millions of dollars when all we need to do is get the opinion of an ex-mailman who started a entire cottage industry. That's who we should seek out - mailmen, butchers, golf course managers, unemployed journalists, gasbag radio talk show hosts, recuiting dorks on ESPNU, former coaches who FAILED at their job and were fired that now work at the Big 10 network - you know, all the people who REALLY know what's going on.

Experts are the ones who had recuits in camps and went to their games. Only the coaches watch grainy films and listen to rumors from other people to evaluate how many stars to give them

You morans out there that actually pay attention to these experts, realize when it comes to rankings, it's all about stars and NOT needs. Spartan Stu brings up the correct way to measure this class - we filled needs. Dantonio started his presser by clearly stating it's all about filling needs. But for you idots out there, it's all about how many stars. I'd rather have 3* linebackers/secondary/OL because we need them more than 4* RBs. Had we signed Ingram, we would have moved up in the rankings, but without the other signees, Ingram in and of himself does nothing. As for Perry - you can't win them all. Hell, if USC offered me, I would have gone there too.

Do I know how good this class is? I'll be the first to tell you I don't know s***. But I'm also putting my confidence in the people that actually get paid for it to do their job. Before posting a bunch of BS on what someone thinks of this class, just come back in 2/3 years - that's when we'll see if you're an expert.
