Not in the Rival's DB, but he's rated as the #29 prospect in the NW (?) by Scout.

I usually have nothing nice to say about anyone from Hawaii or the state itself. However, for an OL... well.

He goes to an absolutely terrific high school...I would love to see MSU start pulling kids from that place.

Is he an Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, or secular Jew? My wife always wants to know who the Jewish athletes are.

Probably none. Don't you take your religion from your mother?

To be considered a "true Jew" by the orthodox set, your mother must be of Jewish blood. Therefore, the kid is just a half-Jew whose father married a Hawaiian schitske.

Here's some more information that I found about this kid.
Markowitz is a guard with adequate size that comes from a pass oriented offense. He is a solid pass blocker that displays the ability to quickly get set. He can maintain a good base and mirror a rusher in the short area. He will use his hands to punch, but will keep them low or exposed at times. He can deliver a good punch and will sit in there and battle. He needs to work on staying square and playing with more knee bend. He exhibits adequate strength, but will get straight-legged and can get knocked back. He displays good awareness and will keep his head on a swivel and help fellow linemen. He can get set quickly, but at times can be slow off the ball. When he does that he will allow the defender to get into him. He can deliver a pop on contact in the run game. He does a solid job of using angles to push a defender out of the hole. He does a good job of working up to the second level and getting a piece of moving targets. Markowitz is a solid guard prospect that needs to get into a college weight program and add some bulk.
So if we land him, does McDonald stay on the Defensive side (DE)? I know MD said he could possibly be an OL but with this kid, there's no need for that.

There is always a need for OL. McDonald will stay on the OLine

Dantonio said he's going to start off as a DE but could be moved to TE. He also said that coach Rousher wants him on the o-line but it was sort of implied that the line was the 3rd option the staff ahd for him.

A bit undersized for a OL, but it's always nice to have a few extra offensive linemen around.

He looks undersized, and very young. This is not a bad thing. A gray shirt would allow him to mature, hit the weights hard, and develop technique. We could always use O line depth.

What is the purpose of making a grayshirt offer. I thought we had 25 schollies to offer and filled only 21 spots. Doesn't seem to be a need to back date his scholarship offer to '09.

give him a year to bulk up and train without wasting his eligibility.

I think it's pretty apparent we haven't offered this kid for a reason. If we want him, I think there's no question we can have him. 2/3 of his offers arent even D 1 offers. I think is very wise to save that scholly for the 2009 class, especially after the way we've started. Abe Markowitz appears to be headed to Miami (OH). Good luck kid.

We want to Greyshirt him, but I think if the kid is getting ready to sign his LOI to Miami, then Dantonio should offer, look at the kid, he's definatly worth it.
