Obviously he's not for sure yet, but like I said, MSU is in front, and I would be very surprised if he's not in G & W after next year.

great news. i love it. lets regain dominance in the state. Now is the chance to do so with Michigan bringing in a new coaching staff.

He said he doesn't respect Dick Rod at all.
He comes from a great family. Dad played at WMU. Smart kid. Good character. Good head on his shoulders.

Great. Sounds like a smart guy to me haha. Dick Rod doesn't deserve much respect, he's a southern snake who just will say whatever needs to be said to make the sale on a recruit. Any reasons why he doesn't respect him or don't you know.

Didn't really say much. Just his tactics. He said the Duffy Daughtery building looks excellent and that MSU is on the up and up as a program. He said he is excited to be a part of it if he chooses us.

you think a Caper commit would help with baker when they are both RBs

He is always talking about MSU. I would be very surprised if he is not a Spartan in '09!

PS- He is a very smart kid. Should be no problems with qualifying. Math and Science Center is all AP classes.

Thanks for the update. Good news. I saw Caper had like a 3.8 GPA, but didn't do quite as well yet on his ACT (if the numbers on Rivals are correct).
I lived in BC for 11 years when I was a kid. I'd love to see our feature back come from BCC. GO BEARCATS!

It might if we got the best players in Michigan on board. That kind of recruiting momentum can be contagious.

why not? There will be plenty of room for two 09 rbs. The two are different enough that it should definitely help

The classic "Here is what we are and what MSU offers, lets see if it is the best for you". I bet Zook's sales pitch is dramatically different.

Yeah. I like Dantonio's no pressure approach to some kids, but when a player clearly states he likes MSU, go ahead and sell it. I'm not saying hound the kid, but a little "Hey, an impact player like you can really get this class going" wouldn't hurt.

Does anyone ever consider that the "slow play", "no pressure" sales pitch is because if you pressure, and cajole, and a guy gives you his "verbal" early, he may back out on you once signing day comes. Look at what happened with Purdue this year. After you have a verbal, I assume you probably stop recruiting other players who would fill the same role. Well, what if Caper verbals in March because takes all the recruiting experts' advice from this board and other internet boards, and gives him the "pressure sales pitch". Great! But, then USC decides in November they want this kid. He goes for a visit in December, falls in love, and changes his verbal in January. Now, what are you going to do if you are MSU? We don't have the clout to go and grab one of the other big name running backs who have been waiting for an offer. Instead, we go for a guy who has iffy offers, and everyone starts complaining about how we have MAC level talent.
This is why I am confident in Norman being solid. I am sure Dantonio told him to look at others, and make sure he is sure in his college decision. Norman obviously is sure.
Of course, perhaps should change his style for Spartantailgate, Spartanmag, and Gospartans.net.

Love the old-school approach to recruiting, but it does make me nervous in today's text-messaging, recruit-hounding, dog-eat-dog landscape.
I wish they'd come up with a damn early signing period and get it over with already.

"I just like how they come to me," he said of MSU.
"Most recruiters say, 'We have this or we have that.' Michigan State is a more laid-back feeling. They put everything on the table and let me choose my decision. Coach (Mark) Dantonio is a good person."
Caper, who has a 3.8 GPA and has qualified academically for college, has not heard from Michigan since new coach Rich Rodriguez was hired in mid-December.
"I really don't know about Michigan right now," Caper said.

49ers, caper has never had UM #1 and was never going to commit early to UM. MSU and ND have always been ahead of the rest.

this is my feeling as well. Look at fred smith. UoM never really stopped recruiting him but because of how MD handled it and because of the relationships and not trying to pressure Smith into a commit it allowed Fred to be certain this is where he wants to be.

Caper is looking at who he has to compete with, and thinking he doesn't want to go to a school who likely has a 3 or 4 year starting back, ie: Jonas Gray.
