He got his offer after MD viewed a couple more videos from last year and a few basketball videos that showed his mobility. After receiving those, he called for ZM's number and offered.
What are our chances with him Tre??

Thought at one point to be a U of M lock and not sure they are recruiting him that hard. I would imagine they are but we shall see.

I would say 60% chance we get him, 30% chance Wisconsin gets him, 10% chance UM gets him.

I can't really get more into the numbers than that. The things that MSU has in favor of it is Dantonio and his staff being well liked by those close to the situation, MSU's offense, MSU's current class of newcomers, those involved disliking RR's coaching style (very vulgar in practice and crosses the line with comments), the belief that UM would not want him over 300 pds.

Things going against MSU, he grew up as a UM fan.

I go to Swan Valley and at the last golf match talked about him with one of the Hemlock kids. He says he's been offered a full-ride from Wisconsin (which I'm questioning the validity), but also says he would rather go to Michigan State than anywhere else in the country. The kid also mentioned him being a rather poor offensive tackle and just looks good because he's big, and on a bad team. Hemlock went 0-9 last year.

he must be really un-popular.

When a member of the golf team is hating on you when you have multiple bcs offers in May, it really says something doesn't it

I respect the opinion of MD and staff over a golf team member at the same high school.

I recall early articles that had this kid drooling over UM.

I think he was all over UofM when Carr was the HC.

Scout - "Matthias Grabs Second Big Ten Offer" - $

Says MSU is in his Top 5. Plans to make his decision before the fall.

I like how he says "I would say they're probably in my top five." He has two big 10 offers and were only PROBABLY in his top 5. I think he's definitely a u of m fan

It's all about a project with these kids. Take the huge body that you can't just build and mold it into what you want. Good? Not yet. The right body to be able to mold into good? yes.

Will most likely commit to Wisconsin today. Was won over by the fact that they were 1st to offer and liked the atmosphere.

Example of a kid who loved UM and just couldn't play for MSU. Oh well.

Not so fast my friend...

I can't post all of my info out of respect for my source, but I will say a bit.

Met with Wisconsin coaches today for 1 hour, had all intentions of committing, however he changed his mind about the commitment and did not commit. You wouldn't believe how close it was to happening.

Let me just say this, another big announcement that came in favor of MSU today regarding a particular big name qb had an impact on this decision and the tides may be turning.

thanks.

Although I don't understand the logic. If you were going to commit there and your heart was there than commit.

One transfer should not effect that at all, especially if Nichol was a spartan all along and he favored UM. I don't get it (talking about his junior year)

I guess there is a lot of respect for the qb and it made him hesitate. I think it's still open, but that percentage certainly flip flopped from before.

OK, theres respect for Nichol (I'll concede that) I still don't see how one player, a year ahead of you who when you wanted to go to UM he was picking State, would alter your decision that much when you had your heart set on Wisc.

I can see if Nichol went to UM and your boyhood school came at you b/c you knew his tendencies or something like that. But I'm just not seeing this. I'm not discounting your sources or anything, I just don't see it myself
