This is good news. Some interesting discussion about him over on Buckeye Planet, with two things sticking out:
1) Some debate over his hands - some say they are the best they have seen and others say they are questionable
2) He's planning to enroll early at MSU

This son of former OSU and West Virginia defensive back Terry White is one of the elite athletes in the class. Where he plays is the question.
A lot of schools, including Ohio State are in contact and he has offers from Akron and Cincinnati at this early stage.
He has the best hands I have seen this year, and that is saying something. White could be even better as a cornerback. Some players seem to have an almost unnatural attraction to the football. We call it instinct and White is one of those players. No matter where the ball is on the field, White is there. He attacks the ball in the air no matter if he is on offense or defense. The best skill players have that mentality - the ball is theirs. That is especially the case with White, who has an explosive leaping ability and catches anything he can reach. He is a very combative player.
White had an impressive 27 passes defended and three interceptions, but the most telling stat might be his 49 tackles. That is why I see him on defense. He has a solid body and can get bigger and he comes up in run support like a safety. In my first rough draft I had White a top ten player but I need to see him run. He has the skills of a top ten player but he needs to show he can run like a top ten player this spring and summer in the athlete season.
If he does that, he is going to have his pick of schools.

That is is interest list, not offer list. I don't think Michigan offered, and I am 99% sure OSU did not.

I love Ohio kids. They hate michigan and have an extra spring in their step when they play OSU.

So he has no relation to Myles, Austin, or Blair? I think we're going to feature a 5 WR set that goes like this
Rucker, White LT LG C RG RT White Rucker White
QB
I think George Blaha's head just exploded

I watched his video twice and came away with different perspectives (the camp video). When I first watched, I saw two drops and that is where the questioning probably comes in. But after watching a second time, I saw it as one drop and the other was a bullet that was behind him.
My overall view of this kid is explosive. I'm excited.

He was scheduled to campout with OSU on June 8th to earn an offer, the day he committed to MSU. A Maryland cornerback committed to OSU over the weekend also and this may have altered OSU's plans. Reports say that he'd just started to get heavier interest from both OSU and UM among others.

But in all seriousness, I bet White (Pat) is at CB 99% of the time.

He's from the same town and high school as Zach Boren, the football player who recently transferred from SCum to OSU to get away from D-Rod!

Pickerington Central's Patrick White has had a very impressive month of May. White has added offers from Oregon, Kansas, Louisville and Michigan State. Does White still plan on camping at Ohio State with hopes of earning an offer? Bill Greene has the latest on this two-way athlete.

Yea, but it's still funny to picture. . . should give them all similar numbers, like 12, 21, 11 and 22. Then have D-coordinators try to tell their DBs who to cover man-to-man
has been quoted as saying that he looks for WRs who can play CB and vice-versa. The more dynamic, the better I like the way this works, solid get by Dantonio!

I watched his game highlight videos on Rivals and it was all as a CB, with one punt return for about 50 yards, no TD. He showed good speed and coverage ability. I was impressed by the way he came up in support against the running game and tackled people ! He might become a good WR but he appears to have the tools to be an all-conference or better CB and those kind of shut-down Corners are difficult to find ! I think Dantonio will probably still be looking for another WR for the 2009 class.

I think it gives MD the flexibility. Get the strongest player possible be it another WR or DB.

As long as he's calling out "TOUCHDOWN, MSU!"

Just watched the highlights on ScoutingOhio. Good stuff. He can really really get up and play the ball, which has been the biggest problem in our secondary recently.
And this is from ESPN.com:

White is a great athlete who excels as a two-way player at the high school level and possesses some skills that project well on both sides of the ball in college. At this time we feel he will start his career off at defensive back and likely transition from corner to safety particularly if his taller leaner frame continues to physically develop. Possess great instincts in coverage. Soundly reads the quarterback anticipates throws and shows good route awareness. Positions himself correctly to make plays on the football. Flashes good closing speed breaking on underneath balls in his perimeter flat and an extra gear while the ball is in the air closing on intermediate-to-deep throws.. Excellent hands, concentration and arm extension high-pointing the football. Ball skills are outstanding. Plays with proper leverage riding the hip and staying between the ball and receiver on vertical routes. Shows above average recovery speed. While he has good straight-line speed and acceleration, he lacks good hip-fluidity and lateral quickness when trying to mirror receivers in and out of their breaks. We would like to see better bend and sink in his pedal to improve his transitional quickness which is not a strong area. Could struggle pressing bigger receivers off the line until he builds adequate upper-body strength. Increased bulk could precipitate a move to safety as well, a position where his physical skills maybe better suited. Wide receiver is not out of the question with refined route running. Overall, White is a fine athlete with a nose for the football and the size and speed measurables to mold into a solid player at the next level.

and you know what....this guy could be a WR or a DB, and he has skills already...but we have coaches that can actually DEVELOP and HONE those skills to a higher level now. So, a guy like White comes in at a high level, and with Dantonio's and Barnett's coaching, should graduate at an even higher level.
It seems like it has been a long time we have been getting commitments from guys like this, and it seems like a really long time that I could think that they will/should develop because I completely trust the competency of our coaching staff!

This young man seems like an outstanding individual and I am pleased to see the coaching staff really getting solid recruits.
These athletes really see something good in the coaching staff.I have not seen a class like this at MSU in a long time.

I grew up in and currently live in Columbus Ohio. For those of you that have no clue about Columbus football, it is outstanding. If you take the talent in Columbus alone, you could build a confrence title team in college. To get into Columbus and get a recruit is outstanding.
I was at the Westerville North game (in the video it is the team that looks like USC). I remember a player for Pick. Central tearing us up on both sides of the ball and remember him making some of those catches. To see a HS kid go up in the air and extend his arms and catch the ball so smoothly is amazing. By the end of the 1st quarter Westerville did not even look to his side of the field to run or pass. Great get by MSU..
Looking at the depth charts, i think he will play DB for MSU. With the likes of Dell, Smith and Cunningham at WR and very young there is limited time on that side of the ball. MSU will lose 4 DBs in the next 2 years with really only Adams and Rucker who can fill in.
