Patrick White

Since I live in central Ohio I went to Patrick White's game last week. If you ever wanted to play a player both ways (offense and defense), this is the kid ! As a WR he is smooth, with great hands and can flat-out FLY ! As a CB he has good ball instincts and breaks on the ball quickly and tackles well. Nobody can get deep on him, even on play action he has great make-up speed and gets back in coverage. This kid is going to be a big-time player !

Patrick White may not be quite as fast as Johnny Adams but he plays Field Fast ! He's similar in size to Adams, maybe even a little bigger than Adams. I think Patrick can contribute @ CB right away as a true FR and not be red-shirted because of his athleticism, like Adams he just needs some coaching on technique. With Adams and White together, MSU could have two potential shut-down Corners for years to come; add in Trenton Robinson as the Nickel Back and MSU should be able to cover all the spread offenses they come up against in the future.

After receiving a number of major offers including Cincinnati, Oregon, Louisville, Kansas, Indiana, West Virginia and Michigan State, White committed to Michigan State.

A couple OSU fans on Bucknuts went to Pickering's game last night to see OSU commits Jamie Wood & Zach Boren (Justin's brother). Wood's a 4* & #9 safety on Scout and 4* & #2 safety on Rivals, and Boren's a high 3* athlete. So they went to the game to watch their boys, and their recap of the game that they posted starts with Wood & Boren, but then they talke about "the REAL star" of the game being CB Patrick White locking down the opposition's stud WR in man coverage the whole game. Coming from an OSU fan there to watch OSU's stud commitments, this is some serious praise.

Our CB's are going to be flat out ridiculous a few years down the road. Adams and Rucker are already very good, and you start throwing in guys like White and our all of a sudden we have the guys to lock down WR's allowing the Normans, Hallocks, Bulloughs to blitz like crazy.

I'm sooooo ecstatic about this because my biggest complaint over the years has been terrible corners and now MD has brought in GREAT young corner talent and looks like White will be another to come in and play well early.

White's season stats according to Bill Kurelic:

Pickerington Central cornerback/wide receiver Patrick White had an outstanding senior season. White made 58 tackles, intercepted four passes and broke-up 29 others. He also caught 43 passes with six touchdowns. White will make his official visit to Michigan State the weekend of Dec. 5.

We could have used that against PSU. I hope that the staff continues to bring in corners of this caliber. Our secondary needs to improve and White may be the most underrated recruit in this class.

Completely agree. According to Rivals this kid just missed the cut of being a 4 star WR, and some said that if he switched to ATH he would have been. There had been some talk about what position he would play here, but with stats like that I think it's obvious he has to be slated for DB.

Well, there is something else telling in that quote....White will be here on Dec. 5th for his official. I would assume that will be a big weekend, like we had last year. I am sure most of our recruits will be here for officials then, with some names that will probably be popping up soon....should be interesting.

I agree, and not to hi-jack this thread but if our d-line would have pressured Clark and not given him all day (which hurts any secondary) they would not have looked as bad.

Probably not considering he is not signed yet.

Players can enroll early to start taking classes but still can not sign their letter of intent until signing day.

I watched Patrick play twice this year and he probably has as good or better hands than any of the current WR's on MSU's roster. On the other side of the coin, he has the potential to be a "shut-down CB", which are even harder to find ! He will probably end up playing CB bit I think he will be a star no matter which side of the ball he ends up playing on.

Yes! often makes comparisons to guys like Gamble and Hawk. Offense or defense? Answer: yes!

Man............

I had no idea this kid was this good until reading this thread. This class is just.................................orgasmic from a football standpoint. I've only gone to one spring game during BW's first season, but I'm going this spring and I have a weird feeling if it's good weather about 35-45,00 others are going too. CAN'T WAIT.

When is the Spring game. I just might drive down to take it in. Someone let me know when it is. I am sure it probably has not been announced yet.
