Linebacker Chris Norman of Detroit Renaissance, running back Edwin Baker of Oak Park, tight end Dion Sims of Orchard Lake St. Mary's and quarterback Charlie Maxwell of Midland are ranked among the top five players in the state.

I heard Charlie's good friends with Keith Nichols.

Of course, Charlie retired in 1964, after the Tigers traded him to the White Sox in 1962. He may have made $400,000.00 playing major league baseball but probably over his entire 14 year career.

I doubt Charlie's baseball salary ever reached $28,751.00 per year (400,000/14) during his career. I'll always remember Charlie fondly for hitting home runs on Sunday's.
