congrarts on the pickup!!!
What has been said is that Bolden may be a better passing QB, Gardner is a better running QB. As far as top in the state, supposedly if Gardner were considered an athete he would be #1, but since he's a QB Gholtson is.
Gardner has been switching between WR and QB and has been been tearing up the camps. He put in the 3rd best 60 yard time (don't know why they did 60 instead of 40)at the Sound Mind Sound Body camp at Wayne State, beating out around 400 players including Mathis & Hicks.
Regardless I really don't care who the #1 player in the state is, MSU is estatic to get a player of Gholston's level just as UofM is happy with a player of Gardners level.

Considering Gardner's a dual-threat QB with mechanics that need fixing, that's really not surprising. It's not like he exactly has looked like dog crap at QB.
Gholston's a nice pick-up. DE or LB?

I'm gonna go with the safe guess that he will be lining up at DE MOST of the time. But how scary would it be to see the kid play back at LB w/ Greg Jones and company? We are losing 3 LB's next year, so it definitely isn't out of the question that we might see him at LB. I do realize that we do have more LB's coming in the next class but its fun to think about. It will be interesting to see how well he makes the transition to college ball though.

To my untrained eye, he'd make a better SLB than a pure DE.
Also, regarding Greg Jones, he is the man. I wish UM had him. Very, very entertaining player to watch. If Gholston can be half as good as Jones, you'll have a great player on your hands.

Out of curiosity watching Gholstons film it looks like that team has another huge linebacker. When WG lines up close to him the guy looks the same height. Any clue who it is?

I read somewhere that Mylan has been nursing a sore hamstring which is why his speed was off during recent camps.

Yes he said in an interview with Hondo that he plans to try and enroll early so that he can be on campus for spring ball. He said that he knows freshmen have a lot of work to do if he wants to play early.

From Rivals.com
From 428GroveSt in Chicago, Ill.: What does William Gholston have to do to get Five Star status? He has an offer from nearly every program in the country, has prototypical NFL Size/Speed and has outstanding playmaking ability. Will was one of the only juniors on the USA today All American team last year.
William does have prototypical NFL size and speed, but that is for a position (defensive end) he has yet to play, and looks very very raw at in camp settings. I saw him play in the playoffs last year, and was impressed with his performance at linebacker, but at the Champaign NIKE Camp, he struggled at DE, no doubt about it. He simply does not know what he is doing yet at that position. He has potential to move up, because he is as physically gifted as any player in the country. Having an offer from nearly every program in the country does not mean you are a five star prospect. There are dozens and dozens of prospects that can claim that. Finally, we do not look at the USA Today All American team for our research in selecting five-star prospects. ? Greg Ladky

And this is why it is critical to get him enrolled early for spring ball...

I care very little where our players are ranked, I think the offer list is much more telling. But what gets me is the arrogance this cat displays in his response. I googled this guy and had extremely low expectations regarding his qualifications, maybe the guy was a high school coach, or at least a Grad Assistant as some point in his career, but no, he was a hairspray with a little bartending on the side!!!
It's beyond funny that losers like this are responsible for deciding rankings. This guy isn't any more qualified than the next guy you see walking down the street to evaluate talent.
Below is this guys resume, clearly this nerd/bartender is an expert...
A native "Cheesehead," Greg Ladky was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wis. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame. He was a 4-year play-by-play broadcaster and analyst for WVFI, ND's student body radio station, and exclusive home of Notre Dame football on the Internet. From there, Greg moved to Hopkinsville, Ken., as a sports anchor and reporter for WKAG-TV, where he fell in love with High School sports. He also covered the Tennessee Titans, University of Kentucky, and University of Tennessee Athletics. In addition, Greg has been a certified professional bartender for five years.

Sounds like he's looking for the next Mike Mamula, a guy who dominates combines and cone drills but is a clown on the fball field. Think Will Campbell as well.

Teh guy said he's not a 5 star because he hasn't made the transition to DE yet. What's wrong with that? relax everyone. He still has him ranked very high, it's ok.

I assume he'll still end up here, but it's not a commitment if you're flirting with other girls, William.

Uh....what? He's running around recruiting for us but he's not even sure he wants to go here? Pretty disappointing, but I have a hard time seeing him decommitting.

If you are still taking visits, then you are not committed. If he truly is doing this, then I consider him an MSU recruit with high interest and not a committed player. Call me when you are done with visits.

My thoughts exactly. Isn't going to be with Jones this Friday? Pretty odd

After reading he would be with Joe Boisture at TJ's announcement, this is one of the weirdest things I could have been told about Gholston.
Also, interesting how much he wants to play LB. I just hopes he knows that those visits he takes will tell him whatever he wants to hear. I mean, isn't Nick Perry still on depth chart after being lead to believe he would play right away at USC?
