They cut the I-Beams at critical points, remove non load bearing walls and drill into support columns to load their explosives. It takes a long time to do it right and even if you weren't doing it right it still takes time and is very noisy.

the towers both had documented power downs in the time preceding the strikes,which people working in the towers have said were highly unusual.as far as building 7,it was a building with restricted access,as it had Cia and fbi offices in it.along with being the command center building for the mayor...
figuring out how many charges to place and where to place them would likely take several months...actually placing them once a study was done of the blueprints could well have been done during the power downs the weekend before...looking at building 7 coming down,its pretty hard to come to any other rational conclusion,thus why the commision failed to adress what happened to it(or for that matter even acknowledge its existance),and why many people are unaware it fell that day,as mainstream media,after 9/11 have not shown it..Tucker Carlson made a point of not showing the collapse on MSNBC when he aired a interview with a 9/11 sceptic recently,even though it was to be part of the guests point,and was given to them to show
btw,i am not sure drilling is needed,from what i have heard shaped charges are placed around the beams
