I'm not sure if the phone will kick butt or flop but here's what I'm sure of:
1) It'll sell in droves out of the gate. There's a lot of people who will buy something because it has an Apple logo, so that's a given.
2) If it ceases to sell well after that, they've built in a lot of room for price cuts - half of the price tag is profit.
3) They're clearly not aiming for the enterprise side, regardless of what a couple people have said. Lack of exchange sync precludes that. Lock the topic.
4) They could sell a ton on the personal phone side if the thing turns out to work well - but they've gotta make sure they don't cannibalize their own high-end iPod sales in the process - and I think price cutting would almost guarantee that.
It'll definitely be interesting.

I don't see any mistake by verizon. The phone failed to meet their standards. Iphone moved on to the easy carrier.
It will sell good out of the gate for novelty's sake. Let's talk in a year when the demand settles down.
