I think already you're assuming too much (1 year). If this thing isn't polished and impressive at launch, demand could just as easily take the PS3 route - especially at that price point ($500 / $600), which coincidentally is identical to the PS3's. Like I said, people are making way too many assumptions, with way too little information.

Another big question mark, where the math gets a little interesting for them: with the edge network, you'll typically be able to download at 80-110k rates, or about 3/4 of a MB per minute. So it takes about 10 minutes to download your average, 7-8MB song. Is that going to be too slow for people? I'm not saying it is, I'm saying I wonder if it is. On Sprint or Verizon, which use EVDO, you could get the same thing in under 2 minutes... would they have been a better choice?
