Re: Updated depth chart today
The ONLY saving grace about the offensive line injury woes is how much more prepared MSU will be in 2008.
Going into the season assuming perfect health, we'd have expected our starting five to be Gyetvai (Sr), Shane (Sr), Masters (Sr), Martin, and Miller, with Clifford (Sr) being the first guy off the bench.
The expectation would have been that MSU would only have two experienced linemen as we began 2008.
But now, Roland Martin and Jesse Miller will be joined as returning placers with significant starting experience by Joel Nitchman and Mark Bacon, meaning we'll only have one position on the line that we can't fill with an experienced lineman.
For those keeping score, the remaining scholarship offensive linemen are (in jersey number order) Rocco Cironi (So), Abre Leggins (Fr), Brendon Moss (So), Joel Foreman (Fr), Jared McGaha (Fr), Mike Schmelding (So), and J'Michael Deane (Fr).
So we'll have 11 scholarship offensive linemen, not counting next year's incoming recruits (let's hope we bring in five or six kids, with at least one of them being a junior college guy).

Re: Updated depth chart today
No question. The dirty little secret of MSU football is that the OL in 2008 is going to be very suspect and likely slow to develop.
You just cannot have recruiting classed so abysmal at that crucial position.
Honestly I wish MSU would land a JUCO stud OL.
Next year Nitchman, Martin, Miller and say a prayer.

the first post you copied supports our opinion much more than it supports yours. Just and FYI.
As far as the 2nd post is concerned, it isnt all that uncommon for college teams to replace a couple starting linemen every year. Considering the fact that we are returning 3 out of 5 starters, that isn't too bad at all.
