It's not about what position a kid plays in high school. It is the skill set they bring to the table, and how that skill set matches with the requirement of the position. With your logic, Kellen Freeman Davis should not play defensive end because he is a tight end. TJ Williams should not play cornerback because he is a wide receiver.

How does a freshman O lineman help the "younger guys get time to get their feet wet." The true freshman will (usually) have to wait two to three years before he is ready to contribute. How does that help the uppper classman?
