Absolutely a great little film...and easily one of the best of the year. Just because it's not french new wave and stuff happens instead of just looking pretty doesn't mean it isn't worthy of praise kurt. I'm a fan of the Criterion Collection and own a good number of films they've released....but some of what passes for brilliance is really just not very good. Or should I say, boring and pointless.
Case in point: tried watching L'Eclisse the other night, and just couldn't finish it. nothing happens. looked pretty for sure, and I appreciate Antonioni's vision...but god that was an interiminably boring flick.
Give me Mellville and Alain Delon any day though
