For those of you who are theorizing that a silent Perry commit is scaring off LB recruits, (please please please), let me ask you something:
Suppose Perry told MD he wanted to come to State Tuesday. What does MD do?
1. Leak the news right away -- Good PR, but you run the risk of Perry's other suitors putting on the full-court press between now and Feb. 6.
2. Keep it quiet -- Makes Perry's other suitors waste time and effort, but you lose the PR boost with other recruits.
Would you keep it quiet in order to have a big splash closer to signing day? Would you tell other recruits at the same position to go ahead and look elsewhere? MD has shown to be a man of high moral fiber, so it wouldn't surprise me if he would do this under those circumstances, but it sure seems a little risky. If Perry changes his mind or gets snatched away, we've got no plan B.
