Secondly, if Wilson ultimately turns MSU down (say in February), are there really four players in '10 all of whom are a better use of a scholarship than Howell?
Obviously, part of recruiting is risk but I'd hate to see this end badly with no Wilson and no Howell.
I don't know about "better use" but a Mcalam, Appling, Zeigler, Horford (or someone else) isn't out of the question. My personal guess is that if Howell (or some other top 50) wants to commit and fits needs that the coaching staff sees then they will take them. If Wilson comes on board 03/09 you don't turn him down and you take 4 and 2. If he doesn't you go 3 and 3. Or the possiblity of 4 and 3 if someone leaves early. The reality is that Izzo knows needs, the kids, and leaving early possiblity better than any of us and I'm sure he is recruiting in accordance with that knowledge.
