The point is they have multi-McDonald American type players and are consistently in the top five and rarely close the deal (win championships), hence, they underachieve given the talent they put on the floor/that sits on their bench.
ESPN did an analysis of teams with top seeds and found that Duke followed by UNC underachieved more as #1-3 seeds than any other schools in the country. My comments were greatly influenced by these findings.
