You're in a VERY atypical situation. Sample 100 Chinese at random (let the white guy do the sampling) and you'd see what I mean. As to Indians...
My former partner was a Tamil who did the usual Indian thing with the astrology. He found a chick with a score of 34 (really high compatibility) and brought her to the office to introduce her. She was a dark-skinned Melissa Theuriault - perhaps the most beautiful woman I've ever seen in my life up close - she could have won Miss Universe. She also had a master's from Harvard, etc. In other words, a potential candidate for The Perfect Woman. So he then goes to India and Singapore to introduce her to the family, and in two seconds, the relationship was off. Her skin was TOO DARK.

Plus, she had a couple "American ways" in her (thinking for herself, that kind of thing). Not good enough for a simple lower-middle-class Indian family. ROTFL.
