as previously stated, this audio clip makes this thread even more amusing:
Terp's Take: Keith Nichol will not return to MSU per insider Paul "it's not gonna happen" K of Spartanmag - 05-12-08
and for all of those who believe cousins will transfer, wants to go to western, etc.:
LSJ Blogs: Hey, Joe: The Keith Nichol saga

The Keith Nichol saga
I need a new word for "saga," someone help me out. Here's the latest, as far as I can gather, at 8:44 p.m. on Thursday, May 15: Nichol and Michigan State have not officially agreed to rejoin forces.
That's not to say it won't end up happening. That's not to say there isn't some mutual interest. An Internet report, posted a couple hours ago or so and since pulled, indicated via anonymous sources that Nichol to MSU was official and that current quarterbacks Nick Foles and Kirk Cousins had been informed by MSU today.
Cousins' father, Don Cousins, expressed surprise when I called him and told him of the report.
"No, I've not been told that, and Kirk's not been told that," Don Cousins said. "I talked to him today, and I think if he would have been told that, he probably would have told me."
I'm still waiting on a call back from the Foles family, and from the Nichols, and from the people at Guiness to let me know if Keith Nichol is officially the most-speculated-about teenager in U.S. history. I think Lindsay Lohan still holds the record.
Speaking of record, MSU can't speak on it about this situation because Nichol is a recruitable prospect right now. If and when he signs, MSU will announce it. Until then, if there's a verbal agreement in place, the Nichols may choose to reveal it. That would be nice. And after all this, if he ends up in Ann Arbor, you have to admit, that would be kind of funny, wouldn't it?
One thing I feel confident in reporting at this point: Kirk Cousins won't be deterred if Nichol joins the Hoyer Successor Sweepstakes. Don Cousins made that quite clear, pointing out that Foles joined MSU after Cousins had signed, decommitting from Arizona State after a coaching change there.
"Whether Nick comes a week later, whether Keith comes, whether Marc Sanchez transfers from USC, it's not gonna change Kirk's perspective," Don said.
That perspective is, work as hard as possible and control what you can control. This is out of Cousins' control, "so why waste three seconds thinking about it?" Don asked. "Success is putting forth your best effort to the glory of God. If you play and win, great. If not, you're still a success."
Cousins, a darkhorse 2007 recruit, is right there with Foles after spring ball, as you should know. He also carries a 4.0 GPA after his freshman year, by the way. Don also pointed out that highly touted Midland prospect Andrew Maxwell is due to arrive in the fall of 2009.
"It'd be a four-way race, not a three-way race," Don said.
It sounds like Cousins will be part of it regardless. If Nichol does return to the place he originally committed to, he'll have to sit next year, and then he'd be eligible in 2009. Foles, Cousins, Nichol, Maxwell. Here's one prediction I feel very confident about making: All four of those names won't appear on the MSU roster in the fall of 2009.
