My theory (to explain Aarons age in the flash forwards) that it took a long time in real world/island time, but seemingly normal time to those traveling seems to not fit. However, that still seems to fit between the island and the boat, but not beyond that.

We know that it took Sayid at least 2-3 days to get to the island in the boat (in island time). How do we know this? Because Jack told Sawyer that he had his appendix out a couple of days ago. Didn't Jack first collapse after they found the doctor's body washed up on shore? And it was right after that that Faraday sent the morse code to the boat, and right after that Sayid left on the boat. So perhaps Faraday won't be back all that soon, which could lead to further distrust of him, Charlotte, and the asian dude (though misguided this time). So they are staying consistent with this time disruption when going between the island and the boat.

I still say it's a writer's mistake about the heading. If Faraday told Frank to go on 3-0-5 to get from the island TO the boat, and Frank told Sayid to go on 3-0-5 to get from the boat to the island, then Sayid would have to be heading in the opposite direction of the island. There can not be the same bearing to go in two different directions, unless they try to throw in some weird "island caused it" thing, but I'm not sure how they'd explain that. If someone with knowledge on navigation can explain this otherwise, I'd gladly listen.
honest question- do you take notes during the show?
