How about Ronaldo? I hate him, but he was consistently back making defensive plays on Chelsea's corners, and was the one leading the charge on almost every possession.
And I agree that hockey is tough, but the players play much less time, and they play on skates in a controlled environment. And anybody who thinks there isn't "constant hitting" in soccer is completely oblivious. The only reason there are more shots on goal in hockey is because the playing surface is so much shorter, and they can move back on forth faster because they're on skates.
