And I agree that hockey is tough, but the players play much less time, and they play on skates in a controlled environment. Isn't hitting illegal in soccer?

That's my point on the playing surface. It's shorter, skating is fast and the action is endless. Maybe soccer should shorten the field and liven it up a bit and cut down on the mid-field boredom.
