Club football is far more personal. It's like watching
MSU in any sport. I get far more bent out of shape over it and worried. I could barely watch the shootout yesterday and basically had to drink to cope with the nerves. I pretty much chewed my fingernails off.
International tournaments are different. Like the olympics but in something that is cool. It's all about the spectacle. The idea that if someone loses a match then they have to wait four more years to prove themselves is amazing and fascinating. The stakes are so high and I've always liked how there are about 8 or 9 different teams that not only have a legit shot at winning but their respective populations expect and demand it. No other tournament is such a combination of lofty expectations and pressure in knowing that you get one shot every four years.
Both are riveting but in very different ways.
FWIW: I will watch just about any game from one of the big international tournaments but unless it's a massive game or a cool matchup I don't often watch ELP or CL games that Chelsea are not involved in.
