I wouldnt be surprised if the NCAA talks about having restrictions on how early in a high school kids career they can receive an offer. I'm not too worried about other Big Ten programs going after Appling. Most of the top teams in the league are pretty set in their 2010 recruiting. But most OOC programs are just now getting their first real good look at Appling this summer and by all reports, he's been playing very well in the 17-U circuit. Offers (from strong programs) are going to start rolling in if they haven't already begun doing so. There are benefits and risks associated by holding an offer but one of those risks is allowing competing programs to show more tangible love why you're still making up your mind.
