Recruiting nationally is easier said than done. For one thing, that's a lot of time at the airports for a lot of meetings that will result in nothing more than butt kissing. Our coaches did a lot to lure Yourhighness from Florida Atlantic or whoever that was, and they couldn't do it. One of our prized recruits, Trawick, was like the no. 50 player in GA, etc., etc.,
One draw on the local kids, it develops the local fanbase. It makes more
fans in Michigan as communities follow the local boy who did good. It probably sells more
MSU trademark clothing and everything down the line, too.
But yes, there comes a point when we have to branch out. Considering the state of our program right now, we'll do well to get the best MI and OH talent we can. The rest is just icing, I believe.
