If he plays both, he can't be on a basketball scholarship. This practice was outlawed back when some schools (read: SEC) would recuit more kids than they had scholarships for, then put them on scholarship for another sport that they wouldn't even play. Now, just to be clear, he
can play football after awhile if he's on basketball scholarship, but I think he has to sit out two years. The only reason I know this is because of all the discussion and rule interpretation on the M boards during the Kelvin Grady recruitment. They came up with every bit of legislation you could ask for, and I think I've covered the important stuff here.
