True, and true; he was ineffective (for him) in the Finals, no doubt in part due to the influence of the Red Wings. He certainly didn't pick the Pens up and put them on his back, in any game or (IMHO) any period. I also don't think he will play defense as well as any of our current forwards, but I could be wrong (hope I'm wrong) on that. I'm praying he isn't a new and slightly improved Robert Lang, which is who he reminds me of.
I'm pleased enough with the signing, but am looking at it more as a defensive signing (keep him away from anyone else) than offensive (we need this guy to get us another Cup). As long as he fits in the salary cap (a given -- Ken Holland is GOD), and doesn't gut the team chemistry (to be seen), there's no problem whatsoever. I was just more pleased, frankly, with the Brad Stuart signing.
