First, Hossa is an elite goal scorer. Good with the puck and a good backchecker (plays d well for his position). He is 6'1" 210 but really isn't an overly physical player but he will go to the net and is strong on his skates. If the Wings had any weakness, it was goal scoring from a winger and he fits that role perfectly. I was hoping for Sundin b/c I never dreamed that Hossa would take a 1-year deal but honestly he is a much better fit for the Red Wings plus he is much younger. Really, just about a perfect fit.

Nothing is ever certain in hockey but the Wings are the strongest contender for the Cup that I can remember, certainly post-lockout. This move is a 10 out of 10. the only negative is that it sets up fans for a huge disappointment if the Wings do not win the Cup again.
