Are you sure about that? I thought the rule was whatever sport you come in on scholarship on, is the sport you have to start with. After that it doesn't matter what else you play. So, if a kid comes in on a Basketball scholarship, the first sport he can play is basketball (meaning he's not eligible for football his freshman year). After the completion of the first basketball season, he can start running track, swimming, playing baseball, playing football... anything he wants. The
NCAA has a pecking order for scholarships. It goes by revenue. Football is #1. Then basketball. So if a player plays both, it counts against football.
No matter what other sport a player plays, if one of them is football the scholarship counts as a football scholarship.
