"Should be able to do" and "want to do" are completely different things. Most people, today, want to talk on their phones. When the vast majority of people want to watch the Simpsons (which I actually think you can do with Vcast Mobile TV), and play Quake on their tiny phones, I think Verizon will accommodate. Actually, Verizon has quite a few action games for their phones. I don't see Quake 1, but they have COD 4, Rainbow Six, etc:
