A few things. Good WRs leave early, and we're bound to have at least one leave after 3 years.
He can play DB or possibly LB. Everyone gets caught up in offensive players, but really you need your defense to be deeper. Defenses tire out quickly, and you'll need to cycle players in and out more often than on offense. Right now, a good offensive coordinator sees us pull a starting DB out and stick in a 5'-9" rookie, and knows where the next play is going. Imagine replacing him with someone nearly as good.
Bringing in talent like this also fuels healthy competition.
There's always room for a player like Gordon. Why do you suppose USC took 5 of the nations best RBs in one class?
