A poster on the IU Rivals site is crediting Watkins and Gainer with influencing Chapman's decision to become a Hoosier. Don't know how accurate a statement that would be since I am sure Chapman would have jumped at an offer from Dantonio.
Chapman did the correct thing by selecting a BCS conference school over his MAC offers since neither
MSU or UM had him has a "must have" recruit. He had been to
MSU enough times and performed for the coaches to where if he had wowed them an offer would have been forthcoming.
MSU has decided instead to pursue other candidates they believe will be able to perform at their high level of expectations.
IU may in fact surpass NU in talent level but that talent will still be playing in front of a half empty stadium. Even Bill Mallory during his best years couldn't get their small stadium to sellout. IU and its fans simply don't care enough about football.
