My prediction if Howard commits to
MSU is that he plays right away as you mentioned. Our receiving corp. would be made up of Dell, Smith, Cunningham, and Howard on the top end of big performers. With quality depth provided by several young kids. Spencer, Fowler, White (depending on DB situation) might get a redshirt and come in a redshirt freshman ready to contribute big time.
