They are all tough options.

Embrace an existing 3rd party.
Create a new 3rd party.
take the time to give an intervention to stupid Americans who dont realize our situation.

convince your neighbors to get their guns and revolt.

We are insane to keep doing what we have done, and expect a different result.

There are actually signs of intelligent life here.

I was almost going to post to tell Lochgelly how moronic this statement:

And this is almost totally the Republicans fault...
was, but you basically said it for me. Both parties have done this and for one very simple reason:

WE THE PEOPLE HAVE LET THEM.

We the People have stopped taking responsibility for our own lives. We the People have stopped trying to solve the problems in our own communities, in our counties (or parishes, for those in Louisiana), in our states, and in our nation. We the People have looked at 537 (Pres., VP, 100 Senators and 435 Representatives) elected idiots and told them to save us from ourselves.

And they've tried to do so. And failed miserably. In the process, they've spent this country broke. They've given us a border they can't defend, an infrastructure system they can't repair, a Ponzi scheme for retirement that can't be sustained, and a pork-barrel system that's given us thousands and thousands of community centers and museums that no one ****ing wants, all named after some Representative or Senator so that the son of a bitch can win the next election.

Putting up a third party, or a fourth, or a fifth, won't make a difference, if We the People don't succeed in taking power back. The power to spend uncontrollably comes from the people who are frankly too ****ing stupid to take care of themselves, so they keep electing the person who will cater to their bull****. Case in point: McCain's troubles in the Upper Midwest, because he rightly opposed the $300 billion farm bill that was essentially welfare for corn growers. So, those people will vote for Obama, so that he can keep the pork flowing to them, and **** the rest of the country.

Stop voting for people who tell you what they're going to do to take care of you, and start voting for those who will get the government the **** out of your way, out of your bedroom, off your TV screen, and out of your wallets so that you, the most integral part of We the People, can start doing what you're supposed to: taking care of yourselves and your families and your community as YOU see fit.
