Biden wasn't my first choice either but compared to McCain/whoever I will still vote Obama. 12 months ago I thought Hillary Clinton would be the nominee and I'd be hoping for a viable moderate independent.
The moment McCain turned his campaign over to the Bush2 machine I knew he was being supported to further the secrecy of the executive branch.
Like it or not, Obama's age and light political resume was always an issue and his choice of Biden is much like Reagan picking Bush1 and Bush2 picking Cheney.
Obama felt he needed someone to help with specific groups rather than a specific state. I would have preferred Bayh or Kaine but I wasn't consulted and I'm guessing Obama decided Biden could help in PA and OH as opposed to putting VA or IN in play.
