So maybe the Mets outfield corners are not appealing now. Just wait. Detroit's Magglio Ordonez ($21 million left before determining if his options vest) or Houston's Carlos Lee (three years at $55.5 million left) could be available for meager prospects.

The team that came up regularly to deal contracts was the Tigers. As one AL executive said, "No city has been hit worse by the economy than Detroit. And no team has more over-inflated contracts."
