For clarification, I'm not one of those that feel UM is going to completly fall apart. I just think this next year is gonna be tough, which won't send everyone away, but I think it will affect recruiting a bit. I really like how PSU's shaping up this year too with a new QB and then entire starting o-line from last year back, and I think that momentum will help.

Now, obviously my word isn't as good as Joe Paterno's, but based on the offers their commitments have offers from it appears they are being a bit reckless with throwing out offers, which I guess would be my only concern. They are supposed to take a boatload of kids though.

It will be very close, and one spot isn't huge anyway. You could be right. Who do you think UM gets at the DE spot? I know that's a big concern.

Re: Toussaint. He really isn't that far away and I wonder if some of the propaganda is being put out by Buckeyes.

He has a 2.5 and got a 15 on the ACT already. He has plenty of time to get the 2 more points needed.

Hmm..I gotta disagree with you there.

First, I really don't think season results have that big of an impact on recruiting, especially when expectations are already low.

Also, just looking at PSU's commitment list, they have 11 commitments, and only 3 are 4 stars. Out of those 3, only one is a top 100 prospect. For comparison, UM has 7/9 4 stars, MSU 6/7. Not to mention the fact that their class is incredibly unbalanced right now- 5 of their commitments are DB's.

Even if PSU finishes strong, which I doubt, they would have a pretty big gap to overcome on UM or MSU.

I don't see it.

Certainly some good points. I think the biggest thing for me was how many kids they are supposed to take, but I didn't realize that they only had 3 "4 stars" at this time....that's rather suprising.

I swear that big 6-7 O-Lineman they got from PA was a 5 star player too, I guess not. Maybe that's on scout.

Lots of the Fitz criticism came from the Buckeyes, but the reason that it seems credible is that most of it came long before he committed to UM, back when OSU was still recruiting him.

Maybe he improved things this Spring or something, because there is an article from today saying he has a 2.5/15 ACT

I guess I am since my source comes from the kids school. it wouldn't be the first time a recruit lied about his grades to pick up scholarships and it wouldn't be the first time d-rod took an academic risk.

You think the kid really wants to tell a newspaper writer how dumb he is?

Ah I see, so I should trust a random MSU message board poster who somehow just happens to have ties to a High School in Ohio and also shockingly a High School in Florida.

Truly amazing that you would have such finely tuned sources in two locations halfway across the country pertaining to recruits of your rival.

Forgive me if I'm a bit skeptical.

it's fine by me if you wish to paint me as the only source who doesn't think these kids are going to qualify

the writings all over the place.

OSU never gave toussaint the time of day because they know he's a big academic risk.

Same goes for gallon and the bigger florida schools.

Why's it so hard to believe when dick-rods known for this?

With the caveat that these aren't always correct, Rivals shows offers from MSU, Pitt, WVU, and Illinois for Toussaint.

Gallon shows offers from Kansas, Iowa State, Iowa and Auburn. I'd argue his lack of big school Florida offers has as much due to his size as anything else.

If these two were such longshots to qualify as you are insinuating, they would not have the offers they have, bottom line.

I'm not saying both of them don't have work to do because they probably do, but the characterization of them as being near locks not to qualify, especially given how much time they have, is just wrong.

did I tell you something you didn't want to hear?

It's called an Inconvenient truth. Go talk to anybody in a florida or Ohio recruiting circle regarding the two prospects and they'll tell you the same things.

Fitz has a 1.7 gpa, and gallon will need atleast 2 full sessions of summer school to make up all his missing credits.

thats before they even try and pass the ACT and I dont like their chances at that either,............ sorry
