Some are rediculously unlikely and the following are left:
Quote:
'09 MI WR Dion Sims (MSU Offer)
'09 OH LB Jonathan Newsome (MSU Offer)
'09 MI WR Cameron Gordon (MSU Offer)
'09 IL OT Leon Hill (MSU Offer) (Illinois Verbal)

'09 MI OT Zach Matthias (MSU Offer)
'09 OH OL Nate Klatt (MSU Offer)
|
Newsome has an OSU offer and is likely going there. Gordon is looking less and less likely and really likes UM and Iowa now. If Hill & Buckner switch, it's probably not going to be until later on. McDougal is still taking visits I believe, then again....maybe the one to UM was the last one he needed to take to make his decision or something. Maybe, maybe Hazelett but I havent heard anything from him in a while. Matthias looked to be leaning Wisconsin's way but I guess it's possible.
The following look realistic (And I'm not guaranteeing its one of these by any means, but the farther down the list you go the more and more likely the names are):
'09 MI WR Dion Sims ( MSU Offer)
'09 OH LB Luke Kuechly ( MSU Offer)
'09 OH CB D.J. Hunter ( MSU Offer)
'09 MI OT Zach Matthias ( MSU Offer)
'09 OH OL Nate Klatt ( MSU Offer)

Another aspect that can help a prospect improve his academic standing, is getting fully worked up medically and ruling out a learning disability. Certain learning disabilities once diagnosed result in untimed exams, ACTs, SATs, and access to state sponsored programs.

it's nice of dick-rod and uofm to offer the mentally disabled a chance to compete at the college level
You have to have a atleast a 2.5 gpa and a 17 ACT to qualify, Bottom line

These days we are talking about MSU landing players with great grades, and UM, the self-proclaimed harvard of the midwest, taking players that might not qualify.

First, a learning disability does not equate to "mentally disabled." I guess that comment by you sums up just what type of person you are. Numerous very intelligent and successful people have overcame learning disabilities to distinguinsh themselves in all facets of life.
Second, you have to have at least a 2.5 GPA in your CORE classes. This means if you got Fs in classes like art, gym, and religious classes (all of which get thrown out by the NCAA clearinghouse while calculating the core GPA) your "actual GPA" might be substantially lower than your CORE GPA as calculated by the NCAA clearinghouse.
Third, time will tell. Look forward to bumping these posts circa fall 2009.

Kevin Newsome has a 3.7, belongs in the NHS, and is class president.
Two out of the nine committments are rumored by "sources" to have questionable grades, while both recruits in question have published articles by legit news agencys stating differently.

I dont really follow what UM is doing too closely just reading the websites. Now MSU on that other hand is landing top prospects with excellent grades. You simply could not say that for years and years.

Adding these 5 to our current commits shapes up like:
QB (1)
'09 MI QB Andrew Maxwell (****)
RB (2)
'09 MI RB Edwin Baker (****)
'09 MI RB Larry Caper (****)
WR (2)
'09 MI WR Donald Spencer (****)
TBD (Adding Gordon, Underwood, or Thomas here would really solidify this position)
TE (1)
'09 MI WR Dion Sims (****)
OL (3)
'09 MI OT Zach Matthias (***)
'09 OH OL Nate Klatt (****)
TBD (Throw in Cascarano, Reynolds from Sexton, or Leon Hill here and... )
DL (3)
'09 MI DL Blake Treadwell (****)
TBD (This position is the least predictable, with Bellamy commiting to tOSU, you have to think we make a big play for Muldoon, then you have the McCord kids from MI, Custis, Farrington if he can qualify, and Buckner if we can flip him)
LB (2)
'09 MI LB Chris Norman (****)
'09 OH LB Luke Kuechly
(Also out there if Kuechly were not to pan out are Jeremy Gainer, Darius Moffet, and then Telfort and Mars from FL)
DB (2)
'09 OH CB D.J. Hunter (****)
TBD (Lots of options here, depending on numbers we may take 3 guys, and they include Benton, McDougald, Chris Williams, Dixon, etc.)
ATH (1)
'09 OH ATH Patrick White (***)
That would be one hell of a class.

Absolutely, and kudos to Dantonio for an amazing start. No one can deny that.

I'm sorry your recruits ride the short-bus,
what I bolded is certainly true but it would seem to support my argument over yours, that's another obstacle the two of them will have to over-come.
I sincerly doubt those two are flunking gym but lighting up math and science
I'm looking forward to bumping this thread also

pretty soon the student section at uofm will be well justified in chanting "CAN'T READ-CAN'T WRITE" at non- msu related home games

maybe, but we will definitely take more than 3 OL. Expect 4-5

Now any fool knows that MSU is not going to keep landing a bunch of 4 star players from out of state. They dont need to right now, just get good players. Some top players from out of state will come when MSU starts getting 8, 9 wins per year.

It's possible if we get 18 schollies freed up, but with a guy like Treadwell already on board (can play on either side of the line), I would be surprised to see more than 3 OL recruits at 16-17 spots.

Cross off Matthias. Sims looks unlikely at this point as well. Klatt, Hunter, or Kuechly?!!?!?!?

I still think we get sims in a dual sport role, I don't know why people think he's at all a long shot when he said in the d-news a couple weeks ago that he likes msu and perfers us over michigan.
he's not getting any high-major basketball offers, his friends (nix, lucas, summers, appling) are going to msu.
He likes playing tight-end and catching passes in the red-zone.
I feel like he's ours to lose

Not a good choice of words on my part. I think he could very well end up here, but I don't think he is close to making a decision.
