Off topic, but Central Michigan fans have got to be excited. Looks like they are lining up their best recruiting class in school history. Just landed Jeff Fantuzzi and Aaron McCord today.

Apparently they got a commitment from Justice Akuezue, a DE from Ann Arbor Huron, tonight as well. 3 commits in one day?? That's some OSU style recruiting momentum. Amazing that a MAC school has 22 commits already.

Campbell did commit to Lloyd Carr after all....not saying I have any scoop, but one can always hope....

That would be amazing! I doubt it would happen. It wouldnt be good if it did happen, i think half of MSU nation would have an instant heartattack.
Regardless, I doubt we we'd have room for Jones.

William Campbell could single handledly convince people in the state of Michigan and the nation for that matter that Michigan State is taking over. Can you imagine what kind of message that would send if their biggest name recruit, in-state kid, and basically the only big name in-state player we didn't get changed his mind and decided to join the green wave that is MSU? It would be a giant punch in the gut of Michigan fans, it would be the biggest recruiting victory in MSU history, and people would flip. It might give us a Top 5-7 recruiting finish.
Now that is all a dream. But if Michigan has a rough season and MSU has a good one....??????? Let me just say you'd have a party on your hands and I'd be buying everything.

From what I've read on multiple message boards, if we were to decommit from U of M, he would most likely go out of state. Take that as what its worth though, since its most likely from other recruiting nerds that have never seen him play or have never talked to him.

If Campbell decommitted from UM, I doubt he'd go to MSU, he'd probably go to Miami/LSU/USC.

Guys, give the Campbell thing up, seriously, we have a better chance with that 5* LB than we do with Campbell.

Lay off the Kool Aid!
MSU hasn't beaten UM in what? 6 years....
I'm very happy with the way this class is shaping up, but even if Campbell flipped, the trend for MSU recruiting dominace over UM would just be in year 1.

On the subject of Teric Jones, the WOTS I got from my UM friend is that he wants to look around and isn't afraid of DickRod's now public policy that if any committed players take visits elsewhere, he will begin to recruit over them (this surfaced when UM commit Bryce McNeal announced he would be taking visits; after Rod's policy alteration, McNeal canceled all the visits he had planned to avoid losing his scholarship). He also said that the feeling might be mutual and the UM staff thinks they could get a better player in his place if he went elsewhere. Personally, I'm hoping he either sees the light and commits to CMU or jumps on tBelieve Train. Losing Jones would be a big deal because it would leave UM with Campbell as their only instate commit, and being that he's most definitely taking visits this fall (surprisingly, DickRod has elected not to enforce his visit-elsewhere-and-lose-your-spot policy with Mr. Campbell), he could easily opt for Miami/USC/LSU/wherever else he's visiting. If that happens, you have to think that there'd be serious fallout from DickRod taking ZERO instate kids in his first class. If he doesn't want to alienate the HS coaches in Michigan, he'd have to start targeting CMU's scraps.

That's how it starts-the first season or two. Look at Thad over in Buckeye land for another example. You get that first stud class and perform well and it snowballs. It is easy for it to fizzle out just as much. But we are definately in that crucial time this year to keep the ball rolling or let it fizzle. Izzo was able to keep it rolling and because of that, we are at Elite status years later. It is easy to say, relax...we have a long ways to go. However, we are a good year on the field w/ a victory over Michigan and a couple of nice first 2010 commits from having this snow ball turn into a bolder. The mellow fan will say relax, but if you look at history with upstart programs....you can always turn toward this time period with a new coach. Campbell is about a .05% chance...i was just dreaming. But you get the point on the crucial/exciting time we are in right now.

is getting a lot of kids with HUGE GPAs. even if they are taking napkin folding, the raised intelligence, especially at key thinking positions, will pay off.

Fire up Chips! I think the billboard outside Ford Field won't hurt Detroit recruiting. Hopefully, going forward, we are above the MCB- So I hope CMU makes Ford Field their home away from home.

RR would be stupid to pull Jones' scholarship. If he did that, he'd most likely alienate UM's best pipeline for instate talent.
