I don't want this kid all over Gholston and Gardner. He is a better recruiter than RichRod.

Hawthorne (ILL) and Appleton (WIS) at East Saint Louis (IL) High last year were pretty darn good. Both top 100 guys and the #1 and #2 players in the state of Illinois.

Watch out for Earnest Thomas from Orchard Lake St. Marys. He just picked up an Indiana offer and Cincinnati should follow this weekend. 6'2, 195-lb safety/linebacker that reminds me of Jeremy Gainer some.

jesus. why do you think all of the big time programs in the nation have top recruiting classes every year. because if a kid gets a scholarship from florida or usc then hell he must be a 4-star. use your head.

Thanks Allen. Good stuff!

Question, why Gardner the no. 1 in the state now, and not Gholston? Or, do you think it is more a 1a and 1 b kind of situation?

With Miller's move I have Gholston #1, Miller #2 and Gardner #3. Gholston has as many offers as Miller from Out of State and Out of Region schools to say the least. Florida has seen Miller in person, they haven't had that luxury with the true Big Will and they still offered.

Gholston as a 4.6, 250 lb kind of guy is hard to match.

Miller is a very good WR, better than Jackson, but I just don't think his skills match Gholston.

Now I know Michigan fans will say a top talent in Florida will trump Michigan's but I don't think so in the case of Gholston. He is very special.

Best to come out of Michigan on the defensive side since Woodley. And I know U of M fans know how special he was.

.

I love it

Edit- And I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you that Gholston isn't a better prospect..but Miller has lot of great offers and a lot of athleticism as well, in addition to playing against better competition. My only point is I don't think its fair to say Miller can't "hold Gholston's jockstrap".

Oh and where is that 4.6 from? I know he's a freak, but that seems...insane.

2nd Edit..looks like he'll be a mid to high 4 on Rivals at least initially..

Yes but don't you have to take into consideration that Miller is already commited? I mean thats the reason Jim Comperoni gave as why so many MSU commits last year didn't pick up more big time offers then they did.

Wow, you must be new here. It's called selective logic.

Heres how I would rank them, and the players who they compare to.

1. Gardner - Vince Young or Josh Freeman KState. ( QB is the most important position on the field hence he is number one, plus he is a sick talent.)

2.Ricardo Miller - Combo of Devin Thomas/Braylon Edwards. (big physical fast more than anything super hands)

3. Gholston - Kamron Wimbley/Shawn Crable (raw very raw, can play up or down, needs to get a mean streak.

after these guys the rest can't hang really. This is the cream of the crop.

I don't know if I would go there far. I agree those are the top 3 but there should be at least 4 or 5 in the top echelon.

There are some pretty solid players in the rest of this class.

i would have to say that Gardner is more raw than Gholston. i have some doubts if Gardner will make it to the final elite 11 camp.

Did he go as a junior this year? And when are the final cuts made for this?

the event is usually in late July and they pick them in early july. if there have been any regional camps then they just started. there have only been a couple Nike camps so far this year. im sure the die hard michigan recruiting fans were all over the results from the Miami camp

As long as we're going all superlative on the projections, than Gholston's ceiling is no lower than Julius Peppers.

Thats not really what I was asking... I just wanted a number. From what I have read we don't have a great shot with a good majority of these "pretty big impact players." I think we will land some but don't act like our class is going to be all 4 and 5 star players
