you do realize that we do most of our recruiting through summer camps and junior days and that the kids that usually commit right away are kids that have liked that school for some time. but what you should be happy about is the fact that Dantonio is going after national recruits and actually making the cut for some of them.

I read something the other day that most schools are behind last years pace. I'm not sure what the trends are on these, but other schools are "behind" too so i'm not worried.

Stars are coming out now on Rivals Gholston 4stars
and a 5.9 rating. that would put him somewhere around 50-100 ? Wish he was higher.

I don't care if he's higher or not. I just want him to come to MSU.

Rivals 100 is out. Gholston is 44. Boisture makes the list, not that it matters anymore. Rivals.com Prospect Rankings

The key is that while we haven't locked up a bunch of guys yet, the ones we are in hot pursuit of haven't commited elsewhere either. If Gholston, Bolden, and Olanyian pop tomorrow for OSU, Northwestern, and ND, then you can start worrying.
I think you will be happy with our class this year in the long run, no matter what the ranking is. We have real talent evaluators now. After all, look at how MD's first two "lower rated" classes are contributing. I mean, Greg Jones, Chris Rucker, Johnny Adams, Joel Foreman, Kiwi Martin, Kirk Cousins, Oren Wilson...What a bunch worthless 3 star guys..

Why is the ranking of a player more important to you than the talent of the player?

I think hes just saying they should go hand in hand. From what we have heard from everyone, Boisture is a distant third behind the other 2 so you would figure that it would be reflected. I know these rankings will change a lot between now and next season, and I will trust the coaches own rankings over rivals or scout anyday.

This is very good. Must mean that he is a MSU lean since if he was a UofM or OSU lean, there is no doubt in my mind he would be ranked as a 5 star.

Can you please help me out with that? I've read all the posts in the thread at least 3 or 4 times and can not find any post or poster who said that.
Thanks in advance.

Don't worry about Gardner to SCum he's a WR
Dorsey has the scoop on this. Kid will not be able to beat out Forcier. Not a big lose for MSU.

About 5 minutes ago you said he was going to LSU or MSU. Real credible schtick you have there.

Then why did we pass on Boisture to try and get a guy we shouldn't have worried about at all?

From the Rivals chat today, it seems like they aren't the biggest fans of Bolden and Gardner (they did say Gardner was a solid 4 star, but they didn't seem too impressed with either's arm strength.)

This is one of those times where Dorsey should just shut his mouth and accept that Michigan likely beat MSU for a recruit.
He created this whole convoluted story about Gardner having to switch to WR b/c Forcier is going to start this season, but then he said that MSU would be a better situation for Gardner because he could wait a year or two and then compete with Maxwell for the QB spot once the other guys graduate.
However, Forcier will burn his redshirt year this year and then if Garner redshirts he will be two classes behind Forcier and will have a chance to start for two years.
This whole 'he's just going to be a WR anyway' nonsense is foolish. Both in-state school wanted the kid and it appears he's going to select UM on Monday.

Plus, it doesn't matter if Michigan wants him to play QB or WR or Kicker. We wanted him as a QB, and they got him instead of us. That's a loss for us, regardless of what position he ends up at. IMO, not much of one, but a loss nonetheless. Take off the green-tinted glasses.
and of course we're all full of **** if he doesn't commit to UM anyways.
