Just because it's fun to do...how about a class that looked like:

QB: Joe Boisture
RB: Nick Hill
WR: Tony Lippett, Tony Jones
OL: Travis Jackson, Skyler Schofner, Brandon Vitable
DT: Carl Davis, Tra Thomas
DE: Taylor Calero, William Gholston, CJ Olaniyan
LB: Max Bullough, Javone Snow, Jayrone Elliott
CB: Mylan Hicks, Dior Mathis
S: Isaiah Lewis, Arryn Chenault

my only changes could be Shakim Phillips as WR and Latwan Anderson as S.
and maybe replace Thomas at DT with Sadler at P

I'd take all three of those too...I was going for realism.

And it's not that I don't think those are possibilities either, I just think that things would have to fall perfectly into place.

First off, Tony Jones would need to go elsewhere, and at this point, I really think that the staff is high on him, and he is high on us, especially after JB committed (I know everyone talks about Shakim and JB being boys, but Tony and Joe grew up together playing football). If he were to commit, I don't think we get a guy like Phillips or Lewis.

Also, something is just strange about Latwan Anderson's recruitment. He, at one point, posted a top 5 list that "wasn't going to change" and we weren't in it. Then he says he's coming up this weekend for camp. I think we are just a stop on the tour for him and Bryant. Hope I'm wrong, but I think he is a Mountaineer. Also, you would need to add him as CB, as that is what we are recruiting him as.

Sadler is a school-first kid, and he wants to study Aeronautical Engineering...which I don't believe we have. If scUM offers, I think he's theirs, otherwise, I think maybe Purdue.

I really do hope we stay in the race for guys like Phillips, Anderson, Hemuli, Lewis, etc. I just don't think that Coach D likes to wait on a recruit forever, especially at a position of need. Hopefully we have some open slots in February to play with when some of these guys make their choice.

This class looks very good and very accurate to what I think MSU ends up with. I think that MSU will have around 21 or 22 scholarships available.

Even if we land Tony Jones, Shakim Philips and Dyjuan Lewis will still have their scholarships available, IMO, but there would be room for only one of them. MSU will probably take 4 OL, I would add Michael Dennis or Eric Franklin to this list. Instead of Arryn Chenault, wouldn't he have decommitted by now if he was going to choose MSU, I would add Kurtis Drummond or EJ Johnson. I'd like us to get Tra Thomas but I'm not sure if we will get him. Also with two stud LB's in the 2011 class in Michigan, Lawrence Thomas and Dwight Trammer, I could see MSU only taking one more LB and taking 3 CB's. I would like to see us add Dior Mathis and maybe Tejay Johnson at CB, but Florida leads for him. There are also some good options at CB that we are in good position with. Overall this should be another great class for MSU.

Out of Mathis, Anderson, Lewis, Drummond, and Bryant, what would your guys' order look like first in terms of preference, and then in terms of likelihood we land them?

Preference or wish list doesnt matter...its who do we have the best shot at in the end, and i would say...
Lewis, Drummond, Mathis, Anderson(WVU), Bryant(OSU)...with Lewis i think we get, and Drummond we have a great shot with (Scum)...I will believe a Cass Tech guy at State when i see it-Mathis(Oregon, or who knows)...

Wow, what a beautiful and balanced class Dantonio is building.

All we need is for Olanyian and Mathis to step up and I'll be in recruitment heaven!

Although either of Anderson or Lewis at safety would be a beautiful end to this story.

Hey, forget about 2009-2010, I don't care if we go 1-11. I'm already dreaming about 2010-2011!

I felt the same way when I was writing it. So what's wrong with getting stupid with excitement? I thought it would be obvious I was semi-serious - I guess I have to put in a full disclaimer in next time - trying to point out that we'll be at a different talent level in a couple years than what we've been for a long time.

Anyone else's imagination taking them through the next three years and saying, yeah, there's plenty to get excited about this next season, but in 2010-2012, it looks like we'll finally have the talent to go toe-to-toe with the big boys?

19 is the right number as of now. BTW, don't forget we have a walk on OL Stangeland and we have Conway, Reynolds, Klatt, Barrent so really have 5 OL coming in this year, we only need 3 in the 10 class. We have 9 commits now.
I think we take 3 DB, 2DT, 1 DE, 1 OL, 2LB and 1 WR or 1LB and 2 WR depending on who we can get. It is highly likely another spot or 2 will open up--probably will lose a RB, there are just too many to get PT

It is to my understanding that we have EXACTLY 85 guys on scholarship at the moment, with 19 seniors. So it looks like we have 19 to give for this class.

If you don't sign atleast 3 OLmen every year, you are putting a bullet to your own head. I'm hoping we sign four, though. Need a second scholarship center, and another tackle would be nice too.

football games are won and lost on the lines.

Taking 4 O-linemen a year is a smart thing as long as you don't "reach" to get the 4th.

You must take at least 3 a year or you are dooming your program

Wow I really like seeing us recruiting strong in ohio. This may be a odd-year for michigan recruits, but if we can get some sort of foothold in ohio it could pay off big-time down the raid. OSU will always be the number 1 school in that state, but they cant take everyone!

anyone know why the latwan anderson kids thread was closed? it looks like as of now according to spartannation.com it is between wvu and msu. this kid has offers from georgia, michigan, iowa, bc, cincinatti, wvu and others.

this class has the potential to be a great defensive class and is good. the only way IMO that msu is going to be competitive with national programs is with more talent on defense.

Seth Cunningham - Football Recruiting

Good looking player, but considering how well we're doing with Mathis, Anderson, and apparently Bryant, I don't think he'll end up here.
