Maxwell has some very good skills and would be a great get for the Spartans. Also, we have a long (positive) history with Midland kids.

Not sure. But some have speculated he is a silent verbal to MSU already.

You're right - he made it during the blizzard.

I think Maxwell is definitely going to be a Spartan. He's the starter after Foles. He'll get 2 solid years as the starter. We should have a nice stable QB position for a while to come.

He definatley needs to put on some good weight. You would think he could put 20-25 lbs.

Agree. The sooner he goes public, the better IMHO.

I can't recall any Midland kids playing at MSU aside from Juday in the 1960's. I know that Midland's supported the baseball team quite a bit. Who am I missing?

Not to derail the thread, but what other kids have come from Midland to play here at State? (I'm curious because it's my hometown).

He went to the Elite 11 camp last year and really impressed. Could be a top 15 QB next year. Be great to get him in the fold early, set the tone.
Quote:
Elite 11 quarterback coach Johnson also mentioned that the underclassmen on hand like Austin (Texas) Lake Travis'Garrett Gilbert, Midland, Mich., sophomore Andrew Maxwell, Brownwood, Texas prospect Casey Pachall, and Indiana up-and-comer Dustin Kiel.
"There was also a really good group of underclass quarterbacks," Johnson said. "That was definitely one of the strongest young groups we've worked with in a while."

Is Maxwell going to make the cut for the Elite 11? Or has that already be decided? If he commits early and goes to the camp, then we get a ton of exposure and it will be very good for recruiting.

so is this kid like a 4 star recruit when the rankings come out? he seems like it?
not that stars matter, but wouldnt it be cool to have our first 2 commits be 4 stars, which would be more than we had all this year.
future is bright

stars don't matter for anything except perception. Which can either be good because it hypes your program or it can be bad in that the players are overrated and either don't live up to potential or get caught up in some sort of attrition incident (see JLS' one big recruiting class).

Maxwell looks to be a preliminary Top Ten player for the state of Michigan. He's still got a lot of growing to do at only 180 lbs, but at 6'3" (and who knows if he's done growing at that age) he has the frame to put on a lot of quality weight in the time it will take before he would become the starter.

Man, I really hope he is the silent commit. There is nothing like locking up an Elite QB before the crap that ensues during the summer.
He made a statement about taking his time deciding, so I don't know where this insider information is coming, but I have heard a lot of it. Let's hope it pans out.

It would be nice. Of course it would equally nice if we got a silent verbal from Caper as well. With Ingram going to Bama. RB is a priority for next year's class without question.

I can't think of any aside from Juday. I know Altimore played at State and then coached at both Midland and Dow for many years. The best recent prospect to come out of Midland was Jalen Parmele at Toledo (finished in the top 15 in NCAA in rushing this season.) As for Maxwell, I posted the following video in the 2008 recruiting thread, but am sure most never saw it.
Midland Daily News - Alcott catches game-winning TD; game ends with Lowell at the Midland 1 (includes video)
