Scout.com reporting a 2009 verbal from
Donald Spencer, WR from Ypsilanti, MI.
Apparently had an offer from Indiana, and some interest from Iowa and um.
1 star for those that pay attention to that.
Second verbal for the 2009 class.

He looks very good in his Rivals DB video. His WR is loq quality, so its hard to see what is going on. I do know that he's a track guy. He was pretty much barried at the bottom of the roster on their track team the past few years.
The only info that I have on him is that he ran a 54 quarter as a sophomore - which will improve to around 50-52 in the next few years (Coach Moore at Ypsi consistantly has 6-7 kids at the 50 second mark)

This would be a great get. Scout is certainly more credible than Hondo...so...
Will be curious when his weight/height are updated. 6'2", 185lbs...measured, last summer? could easily add a couple inches and 20 lbs prior to his freshman year.
Looking forward to hearing more on him...MD must be high on him to offer early.
Ypsi guy! Stole another from scUM.

I'm not one to closely follow recruiting, but Will Scout and Rivals put any school on the interest list that the player is interested in regardless of whether the players has interest from the school? I really want to believe that we stole another one from UM!

That is a good point. It seems they add both..e.g. schools interested in the player and schools the player is interested in.
It is early for all the players to be evaluated and offered. We will never know how much UM wanted this guy but either way it is a good sign to get him to commit early from UM's backyard basically.
How many kids in the AA area that love and are good at football, dont look up to UM?
edit: Read he is expected to be top 10 in the state.

Any info about what Dorsey has to say on the Bunker?
(I dont usually do that, but there is kind of a difference between asking for rumor/speculation articles as opposed to asking if a kid commited, IMO)

The commit doesn't surprise him, but he hasn't confirmed it yet. Will try to later on. He feels DS is a top to MI kid for 09.
Speaking of top 10, what happened to that list that someome put together of their guess of what the 2009 top 10 mi class would look like. I cant seem to find it.

That was me.
My Favorite In-State Prospects for 2009
1. DT William Campbell (6-4/327) Detroit Cass Tech - Michigan Verbal
2. RB Larry Caper (5-11/210) Battle Creek Central
3. WR James Jackson (5-10/165) Grand Ledge
4. LB Chris Norman (6-2/219) Detroit Renaissance - Michigan State Verbal
5. TE Dion Sims (6-5/230) Orchard Lake St. Mary's
6. RB Edwin Baker (5-10/195) Oak Park
7. QB Andrew Maxwell (6-3/180) Midland
8. WR Donald Spencer (6-2/185) Ypsilanti - Michigan State Verbal
9. QB Mike Schaaf (6-7/213) Saginaw Arthur Hill
10. RB Hershey Jackson (6-0/210) Allendale
I still like Spencer but I probably put him a little bit too high. Schaaf is going to play baseball, and I would replace him with Shamari Benton (Who I honestly didnt know a damn thing about until a few days ago when I watched his film). I think after the top seven it's the cutoff from "Elite" to "very very good" prospects.

Great news. Come on Shamari and Andrew....time to pull the trigger too!
Oh, and he looks like a pretty good WR prospect. But I think he could be twice the CB and I hope that is where he was recruited. Either way, we've got a very good player here.

Welcome to the family...always good to get some guys early and let them help the recruiting process.
Let's seal the deal with our QB.

jackson is quite high on the spartans as well. it was kinda funny to see all top 4 rbs at the same junior say Spencer is an "elite" prospect.

Well yeah, of course Caper would be great. Sounds like he wants to look around first though. Which is why I didn't bring him up.

the orange was Spencer. Spencer is THE top WR in Michigan. Had most of the big ten looking at him (even ill, penn state, um, etc). Said they were probably going to offer soon. Looks to be a 4 star recruit when all is said and done.
