True, but he's no where near the size of DT.

He may not be on the top of our board in terms of need, but you can't turn away a wr with legit 4.3 speed. We can never be too fast IMO.

Rivals -Jackson's Offer List Continues to Grow $
Now has offers from Alabama, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Purdue, Oregon, Michigan State, Ohio State and Wisconsin. Will be going down to UofM to meet with their new staff for the first time soon. No favorites. Won't be deciding until after the football season.

I know it very early in the game, but what is his status? He seems in no hurry to make an decisions.
Is he taking visits yet?
Would love to see him in green and white. I've seen him play and he has blinding speed. Maybe has a little work in a few areas, but we have the coaches for it.

Visiting UCLA in April...going to OSU's spring game on April 19th (same day as MSU's spring game). Plans to camp at Florida and OSU.

I have always got the feeling from this kid that he is not going to be a spartan hopefully he doesn't buy into dickrod's bullcrap philosophy and commits to scum.

Too small. You gotta have 6 foot plus receivers to compete. Look what the tall Michigan receivers have done to us over the years!

This is a kid with offers from Florida, LSU, MSU, Michigan, Ohio State, UCLA among others...obviously they don't share this viewpoint.

Exactly, Ted Ginn was 5'11 as was Mario Maningham.
I think we've seen enough of them over the past 3 years to know that you don't have to be tall to be good. Hell, Steve Smith is like 5'8 and Santana Moss is 5'10.
Does it really matter how tall you are if you're 5+ yards past the defending CB?
I thought not

with the speed MD is bringing in for the secondary i don't see this being as big a problem as in years past.

I was referencing Jackson's speed, not the lack of speed of our DBs

eh, he wasn't bad - but aside from that ND game he never really lived up to potential. He seemed like a good guy, good spartan, but for all the physical skills...a slight disappointment. The point was there are more important things than size.
As for the reception record - big deal, most of them were 5 yard or less JLS specials...

An amazing thread. Half the top programs in the country offer this kid, but we still get guys coming on here saying he's not good enough for MSU.
It's okay to think before you press Enter fellas.

Okay, I think a summary is due. Are we recruiting the big physical fast receivers in the mold of many of our past greats? Yes. We need those receivers to manhandle corners when it comes to going up and getting it and when it comes to blocking for our running game (Plaxico). Can we use lightning fast receivers with a little less size? You better believe it. Dantonio proved last year that they are very willing to adapt to the talent we have and find ways to get certain guys the ball.
We should really hope Jackson chooses MSU because he has blinding speed and it would be just another dimention to our offense that is shaping up to be special in the future. I would celebrate a commitment, but he just doesn't feel green to me.

I wouldn't get excited about him coming here. I don't think we have a great shot at landing him and feel if he stays instate he is going to U of M.
If we are looking for a burner we could go to Perez Ashford out of Ohio. I like him as the burner at wide receiver for this class personally.
Here is some film on him: Perez Ashford Shaker Heights Scouting Ohio

What makes you think he's a SCum lock if he stays in state?

FWIW Jackson is a guy UM people feel pretty good about (I'd say they feel better about him than any other remaining in-state guy they've offered)
