There should be one. Another suggestion would be to have players sign their LOI's when they commit to a school. No reason that would not work.

I like the idea of an early signing period. The first thing we need is for the NCAA to make the rules, not the conferences, so that the SEC cant sign 30+ guys and wait to see how many qualify. The next thing that needs to be standardized is how "binding" are the LOI's when a coach leaves, retires, is fired, ect. i.e. if a player signs in the early period and a coach bolts for another team, can he open things back up?
