 Rivals - Benton Set to Visit Spartans $
Going to Michigan's junior day on the 13th and heading to MSU this weekend for their Rivals 5-Star Academy. Plans to meet with coaches after that. Hearing from MSU, UofM, Notre Dame, OSU......and USC.

isnt he close with Norman? or? I remember it was thought that if we offered, he would commit. Now with these other interested schools, I am not sure. Lets see how this weekend goes chatting with Norman, Baker, Caper, Spencer etc.

from what everyone has said, I sure hope he comes up to EL, loves it and commits on the spot. Talking about family and stuff makes me think we have a chance - since that is what a lot of the 09 guys have talked about - how MD made a big impression on them and their families...
Come on Norman.... help us out some more!

A Michigan coach told Benton to wait until the Spring game and he should get an offer. He said don't commit to MSU this weekend. Why would Michigan have to wait until the spring game to offer him?? If hes good enough to get an offer, offer him now. Hopefully he realizes that and if he feels MSU is the place for him and we offer beforehand, then he should accept. But I have a feeling he will wait this one out and see what offers he can get.

He better understand that....they are waiting to see if other out of state choices commit first. He is their Plan B it appears, otherwise why not offer on the spot?
RR sounds like car salesmen....he goes upstairs to watch his film (and talk to coaches), then comes down smiling with the 'news'.

As I've stated with other recruits in the past, Shamari just feels like a Spartan. We have playing time for him right away, we have defensive coaches, and he'll have friends playing with him. I think it is a great fit.
I hope the coaches offer him this weekend and I hope he commits. I think he will be real confident that he made the right choice.

I am a Brother Rice alum and I can say that its a pretty tight-nit community. Everyone knows everyone and are probably good friends. So I am pretty positive that Ray talks with Benton regularly about MSU.

Well, when's the camp!? It's interesting that we'd leave a guy hanging out there who is getting attention from UM and probably others, based on a one-day workout. Very interesting.
That suggests a couple of things.  really is all that discriminating in what he sees, that is, he sees things that others don't see (as you would hope, I guess). Secondly, we aren't desperate.  Coach has confidence, maybe a little swagger by now.

this one that I expected us to offer quickly...I normally say, trust MD. But I really dont see a negative to this guy.

He plays LB for his team and could use some more speed. Only 6 feet tall so not the greatest height. They want to see if he will translate to the safety position while working him out at camp before making a mistake and realizing this guy can't cover or play in coverage at all.
