Ideas for this forum

Is it possible to have recruits names on one side and be able to click on them for the specific details about their recruitment. Then have a general recruiting discussion in message board format?

Also, it is possible to have a general recruiting discussion and after 24-48 hrs the info is sorted and archived under each recruits own recruiting details (thread or link).

The reason for this is illustrated by the poster who posted the Chris Norman article outside of the Chris Norman thread. As this poster pointed out, I would like to have read this article, but with so many recruits and not being able to know what kind of info is new under each one, I never would have seen it.

Isn't kind of frustrating to see a new post under the Chris Norman recruit thread only to find some poster saying "Wow, this guy is monster." This frequent occurrence is fruitless, and fruitlessness leads to the death of the board.

I agree, that doing all that I suggested would be difficult. However, I am an advocate for the way things used to be. It was simple and it worked. If you want to make it in depth, organized and separate then it is going to be complicated. The board has got to decide, are they trying to be rivals or scout, or are they the RCMB?

Now I come on here and I have to open everything up to even get an idea what is going on. I think it worked better when it was on the main board and then someone would update "Chris Norman looking around still." So right off the bat you know that it is new info and what it is about.

The old way it was like information came to you. With this new forum you have to search for it.

I 100% disagree with you. Every time that there is information or new updates, it's updated in the thread about the recruit. It's all organized. If you want to see if there are new updates for a recruit, you go to the very first post in the thread about the recruit and you click on it. It'll all be there and listed by what day it came in.

The problem is more of personal preference. With the old way, the same information was out there...but it was posted five times and you had to search for it because it was in 5 different threads including the general recruiting thread.

If you feel like you have to search for new information on here, then maybe you're not looking in the right places? I'm just trying to figure out how you're using the board. Anything that is the most updated is going to be at the top of the board. Whenever a news story update comes in, a new post is created. This bumps the thread up. In addition to doing that, I'll take the news story and copy the link into the very first post in the thread. All the news about one recruit is a lot easier to find now. So I guess I'm confused how it's more difficult.

I totally disagree. This new method, in my opinion, is much better.

Using this forum is 5X the work and for the same info that I got through the regular board. I have to read everything just to find out what is significant.

The regular board did not have as much info. I don't need to know every single thing, just the important stuff. This board is like doing research. I don't care to get that involved. I just want to know the big stuff. Not necessarily only 4 or 5 star recruit stuff, but just anything significant.

The regular board was like someone tapping you on the shoulder and saying "did you hear about Johnny 3 star... he says MSU is in his top 3 and that he likes the idea of playing close to home."

The new board is like.... surf.. Johnny 2 star is still undecided (in Feb.).... surf... Johnny two star will visit Marshall...surf... Johnny 3 star says MSU is in his top 3.... surf... Unrated Joe is a diamond in the rough... surf... Johnny 2 star picks up an offer from Virginia...surf.... Johnny 3 star is willing to play defense...surf... Johnny 4 star adds two more offers...

You say the articles are on the first post of the thread. If this is true then why isn't the Chris Norman article listed in his thread? I don't want to read every snipit of information about a recruit, and having to read each article is doing exactly that.

I guess it is fine for you people that are deep into recruiting. It would be nice if the the big news stuff wasn't moved to this board simply because it contains recruiting info.

** also, from a marketing stand point I would think the board has more power when it is not divided.

I mean, I kinda hear what you're saying..not that I agree with any of it. This is the first time that I've heard this kind of complaint. If anything we're doing all the research for you guys. Before you had no idea who was interested in MSU...if we had offered...what their status was and now we've served it all up on a silver platter.

I can understand that you're saying that you want brand new threads for news so you don't have to do any kind of clicking for news, but then we wind up with a cluttered mess like we had before and no one who is really interested in recruiting really wants that.

We haven't moved threads from the main board to here in a long time.

This board is going to be a work in progress. Maybe when there is actually big news we can make an announcement on here so you'll know where to go. Most of the time there ISN'T big news.

this board definitely eliminates the "Whatever happened to" posts in the recruiting thread followed by the "you idiot/search function posts"

Listen, this forum is great IMO. For the first time since this board was conceived there is an organized place to discuss recruiting. The hodge-podge that we had in the past is gone. The details about the individual recruits are offered in the thread about that recruit which is easily searched by their name and kept up to date with current links. If there's something more to be added about the recruit then it's posted by AA or anyone of us. If there's another thread that someone missed, perhaps it could be merged.

I for one am actually enjoying the recruiting forum a lot and think it's great. Leave it as is for a while and see how it rolls. It's been up what... one month? Let it go for now and enjoy what we've got here. If there's something terribly worng, then let us address it at the time, but I for one see this as a blessing and don't see much of anything wrong.
