it might be that absolutely nothing good can come out of any public comment, only potentially bad. if so, then they have a sound policy to be quiet until signing day.

A potential issue could be that it is a recruiting violation for coaches to discuss specific recruits by name publicly until after they have signed their LOI. Perhaps that considering the very close relationship between this recruit and the staff (especially his dad), that they wished to stay as far removed from a potential accidental violation as possible.

Well its not like this case has never happened before, and I didn't expect anything from his dad, just from him. Also he gave quotes to the LSJ so I didn't see why he couldn't give quotes to spartanmag or anything.

In this case I hope that coach Treadwell will observe all NCAA regulations regarding contact with recruits and extra benefits. For example, he must avoid his son, even in his own household, during no-contact periods. He should also provide no gifts, whether it be birthday or Christmas presents until after MSU graduation.

TONS of exemptions for existing relationships. The NCAA isn't heartless, they just want to close loopholes. And with 300+ D1 bball teams and over 100 fball teams, believe me, the loopholes have been exploited! But for immediate family, the NCAA would lose in court faster than you can say "sha-zam"
There just aren't exemptions for uncle Eddie Martin!

check out this quote from someone on Sports Inferno
Quote:
And of course a likwidc0ke post wouldn't be complete with some Spartini comments. In addition to the Baker, Caper, Spencer, Maxwell, Norman commitments, they nabbed a commit from one of their coach's kids.
Honestly, this kid based on his high school play doesn't deserve to play in a BCS conference. Obviously the MSU staff is much more entitiled to making that kind of decision, but he just doesn't to me. No other schools have shown any of the slightest interest in the kid. SpartanMag called him one of the hidden gems of Michigan, I call that a joke

this poster is a joke.

LOL what an ignorant Homer. Treadwell was all state honorable mention as a junior and crabtree said he's one of the top center prospects in the midwest. This little boy just cant handle the fact that we're kicking their ass right now.

Watch Closely
For all those worried about Treadwell being a coach's son, and possibly taking a scholarship from someone who really deserves it, watch the recruiting services in the next couple weeks. The kid is going to get some love.

I am sure the exact position is up in the air once he gets to MSU, but Rivals believes him to be one of the top Centers in the midwest.

5 out of 6 recruits in the top 250 with 4 stars. Not bad at all. Who knows. Maybe Maxwell will get 4 stars as well once he goes to summer camps.
