No offer from MSU yet. Wants to come up and visit. Already has been to ND and OSU Junior Days. Plays rugby as well.

Sounds like he's a Buckeye lean:

Division 3 All-Ohio Defensive POY.

OH is a strong FB state. Lucky there isn't a 2nd B10 school there. B East doesn't count

The square is seldom if ever cool ... He is "not with it", that is, he doesn't know "whats happening." But if he manages to figure it out, he moves up a notch to "hip." And if he can bring himself to approve of what's happening, he becomes "groovy." And after that, with much luck and perseverence, he can rise to the rank of "cool."

greyshirt = academic issues
you can medical redshirt your freshman year even with a pre-existing injury, i believe

I believe that you can...but that starts up that eligibility clock. At least with a greyshirt year you could be extending that career by one more year by giving him an additional year to rehab. If he wanted to do that anyway.

Tearing it now he would have all of his senior year for rehab and the such... a whole year seems like enough time for healing for me?
